Masswalk Paradox

A remote choreography by Alan Peacock

Masswalk: Paradox – how to get the file

You are the audience and also the performer, yet your stage is the city streets. The choreographic effect is produced through a simple set of instructions, which include a mechanism for introducing chance and decision making that interact with the site chosen by the artist Alan Peacock.

Take part in Masswalk: Paradox by following the instructions below before attending the Trampoline event on Thursday 12th October

1) Get masswalkparadox.mp3 - visit www.trampoline-berlin.de and click Trampoline to get to our programme page. Download a copy of the file onto your computer from the link provided under the heading Masswalk: Paradox. (PC users: right click and 'save target as'. Mac users: Ctrl click and 'save target as')

2) Once on your computer, download onto your MP3 player or burn it onto CD for playback on your CD Walkman. (For those of you that like to go old school, you can play it out from your computer onto an audio cassette recorder and bring it together with a regular walkman)

3) Bring your portable audio player (plus MP3, CD or cassette) to HAU 2 on Thursday 12th October from 20:00. Don't forget to bring healthy batteries!

4) During the Trampoline evening you will be given instructions where to meet outside of the theatre and when to listen to your copy of masswalkparadox.mp3

The programme brings together artists whose work marries the imagination of the games designer with the secrets of the mapmaker. The City is scanned, its intimacies encoded and then transformed. Using electronic devices as a compass and our native wit to guide us, we are given the chance to explore Berlin and find it overlaid with threatening narratives and sudden pictures. Sometimes we enter a game world and yet other times we encounter a haunting - the ghost of a hidden space bleeding into the urban reality of a world we saw but didn't notice. Join us on this expedition into mixed reality.
